Traffic Restrictions Continue Next Week on U.S. Route 422

May 16, 2024

KING OF PRUSSIA PA – Five separate traffic restrictions, to be placed next week on local highways in three townships by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), continue to be part of two U.S. Route 422 improvement projects, the department’s District 6 office in King of Prussia said Thursday (May 16, 2024).

Traffic Restrictions Continue Next Week on U.S. Route 422

The restrictions involve:

  • A lane closure to be in place periodically Monday through Thursday (May 20-23) from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. on westbound 422, between Evergreen Road and Armand Hammer Boulevard, for shoulder reconstruction;
  • A lane closure to be in place periodically Monday through Thursday (May 20-23) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on eastbound 422, between Keim Street and Evergreen Road, for roadway construction;
  • A lane closure with flagging to be in place Monday through Thursday (May 20-23) from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sanatoga Road, between Linfield Road and High Street, for bridge construction;
  • Intermittent 15-minute traffic stoppages and traffic paces to be in place Monday and Tuesday (May 20-21) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in both directions on 422, between Evergreen Road and Armand Hammer Boulevard, for controlled blasting; and
  • A rolling lane closure to be in place Wednesday and Thursday (May 22-23) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on westbound 422, between its Phoenixville-Collegeville and Bridgeport-Valley Forge interchanges in Upper and Lower Providence townships, for concrete patching.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas. Backups and delays will occur, PennDOT confirmed. All scheduled activities depend on acceptable weather.

Project costs and goals

The blasting, and shoulder, bridge and roadway reconstruction, are part of an $83.6 million project to reconstruct and improve 422 and replace two bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road in Lower Pottsgrove Township.

The concrete patching is part of a $6.9 million project to rehabilitate pavement on eastbound 422 between the Route 29-Phoenixville and Route 363-Trooper Road interchanges across parts of Upper Providence and Lower Providence townships.
