Looking for great entertainment, presented in some of the most well-kept and scenic parks within southeastern Pennsylvania? You won’t need to look farther than this year’s municipal summer shows. They’re being presented by counties, boroughs, and townships across the area.
Travels With The Post has updated its list (as of Monday, July 29, 2024) of local shows and concerts. Most are free to attend, although some may be limited to residents of the host municipality.
Concerts remain in Green Lane, Limerick, Lower Frederick, Lower Pottsgrove, Schwenksville, and Upper Salford.
Aug. 1 in Upper Salford, ‘All Worn Out‘
UPPER SALFORD PA – Upper Salford Township Park on Salford Park Drive is the site of that municipality’s summer concerts. They are scheduled Thursdays from 7-8:30 p.m., the township website reported.
On the calendar now is:
- Aug. 1, All Worn Out (classic rock).
There’s good news for performers, too. The township website said it is willing to talk with acts about its future concert needs. If interested, send an e-mail to township’s concert scheduler John “Jack” Stacy at jstacy@comcast.net.
The park is for public enjoyment, so the township reminds visitors to follow its online park rules and regulations.
Aug. 4 in Lower Pottsgrove, Pottsgrove Community Band
LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Concerts that continue through Aug. 4 have been scheduled by Lower Pottsgrove Township, it announced on Facebook.
All are held Sundays and begin at 6 p.m. at its band shell in Sanatoga Park, 223 S. Sanatoga Rd. For each concert, rain dates have been set aside for the next day, Monday, at 7 p.m.
Concert updates will be made available on Facebook. The events are sponsored by J.P. Mascaro & Sons.
Scheduled is:
- Aug. 4, the Pottsgrove Community Band (marches, show tunes, classics).
Listeners are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket on which to sit. If you’re so inclined, bring a picnic meal too. Dancing occurs regularly, as the mood strikes, on the open surface in front of the band.
Aug. 15 in Limerick, ‘Bar None Band’
LIMERICK PA – Two shows remain in Limerick Township‘s series of summer concerts in Limerick Community Park, 180 Swamp Pike. All start at 7 p.m. on specified dates, weather permitting.
Scheduled is:
- Aug. 15, Bar None Band (popular songs over genres and decades).
Aug. 18 in Green Lane, ‘Here’s Elton‘
GREEN LANE PA – The Montgomery County government tradition of bringing summer musical entertainment to the regularly busy Green Lane Park at its amphitheater, 2298 Green Lane Rd., continues this year.
Performances remain through Aug. 18 from 6-8 p.m. All are free, suitable for all ages, and open to the public, it added.
Still in its line-up is:
- Aug. 18, Here’s Elton (Elton John tribute).
For more information, call the Green Lane park office or its supervisor, Joshua Aniskevich, at 215-234-4528; or send an e-mail to greenlanepark@montcopa.org. Parking for the amphitheater is located at 2298 Green Lane Rd. The park is open from dawn to dusk.
Aug. 21 in Schwenksville, ‘Little Sister’
SCHWENKSVILLE PA – Schwenksville launched the 2024 edition of its annual “Music in the Meadow” concert series in June. The borough describes it as “an action packed summer” that, it warns, will “rock your socks off.”
All shows are in its Meadow Park, 300 Main St., comfortably located between the Perkiomen Trail and Perkiomen Creek and ensuring “plenty of open air space.” Visitors must bring a chair or blanket to sit on.
Next scheduled is:
- Aug. 21, Little Sister (rock, pop, and dance), from 6-8 p.m.
The concerts are free, and family- and pet-friendly, it said. Food is available for purchase, too, thanks to Boy Scouts of America Troop 105 of Schwenksville. Bring your appetite, the borough suggests.
Sponsoring the concerts are a lengthy list of local businesses and organizations including DJM Design CAD & Coordination Services Inc., Walter Douglass Tax Service LLC, The Goddard School, Rep. Matt Bradford, Univest Financial, Sanatoga Water Conditioning, Perkiomen Bicycles, Action Karate Skippack, Schwenksville Dental Care, Artio Traffic Protection LLC, Skippack Sweet Spot, Behmerwald Nursery, Schwenksville Tax Collector Thomas Laconis, Gilmore & Associates, Heidelberg United Church of Christ, The Victory Bank, Schwenksville Investment Properties LLC, Moccia’s Train Stop, Spring Mountain Adventures, Engage Art Studio, and Wawa.
Aug. 22 in Lower Frederick, ‘Slim and the Perkolators’
LOWER FREDERICK PA – Two free and open-to-the-public musical performances represent Lower Frederick Township’s summer concert series. All events will be held on Thursdays in Cuddy Park, Colonial Drive, Perkiomenville, starting at 7 p.m.
Taking the stage will be:
- Aug. 22, Slim and the Perkolators (blues), with a Aug. 29 rain date.
Earlier concerts have proven to be relaxing and laid-back. Township residents, friends, and occasional visitors are invited to bring lawn chairs, picnic dinners, leashed and well-behaved pets, and a frisbee or ball to create a night-time adventure for themselves, the Lower Frederick Parks and Recreation Board said.
