Can You Solve Boyertown’s May 18 ‘History Mystery?’
BOYERTOWN PA – Boyertown’s second annual “history mystery event” is scheduled for May 18 (Saturday) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. across parts of the borough. The program is designed to “shed light on how amazing Boyertown was and still is,” according to its sponsor, Building a Better Boyertown.
Participants will become detectives in what the organization describes as a fun and interactive challenge. They are being asked to collect information from multiple stops within a short walking distance around town. Each clue they discover can get them closer to solving “The Ore-Deal at Phoenix Mine.” Its story is based on a true event that occurred in Boyertown during the late 1800s.
It’s part of Boyertown Heritage Day, which is free to attend and open to the public. History mystery participation is free, too, and no registration is required.
The excitement for clue-hunters will start at the Detective’s Tent, located in the parking lot of the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles. Participants will be equipped with a map, as well as all other tools they need, to succeed in solving the crime.
Two locations they will visit include The Boyertown Area Historical Society, and the Colebrookdale Railroad. Other sites offer activities for all ages; among them, an obstacle course hosted by Bear’s Den Fitness.
Once detectives have collected all the clues and believe they have solved the mystery, they will return to the Detective’s Tent. That’s where their names will be entered for the opportunity to win a cash prize.
