COLLEGEVILLE PA – The 2024 edition of the annual Colossal Yard Sale, sponsored by the Collegeville Economic Development Corp. (CEDC), won’t be held until September. However, there’s already a flurry of activity involving the huge show.
Prospective vendors, and those who have participated in previous sales (at top), are sending e-mails and making calls to CEDC to reserve their spaces. The organization suggests, if you or your business have goods to sell as a vendor, you might want to do likewise.
Within the bounds of good taste, pretty much anything used or new can be offered for sale … just like a yard sale at a home or in a neighborhood, but with far more people milling about.
The sale, begun several years ago, is scheduled for Sept. 7 (Saturday) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Waterworks Park, 220 W. First Ave., Trappe. It has a reputation of being one of CEDC’s most popular events. When past years’ weather has been sunny – or just dry – the sale has attracted more than 3,000 shoppers and bargain hunters during its 4-hour day. A similar crowd is anticipated this year.
What sellers, vendors can expect
The event accommodates more than 80 sellers and food trucks, and also provides a large playground area for kids (below). Seller’s areas are laid out along the park’s tree-shaded and paved paths. Its walkways are handicapped accessible, and free parking is available on the park’s nearby large playing field.

CEDC President Cathy Kernen describes the sale as “a great opportunity to pick up some exciting treasures and low-cost finds from your neighbors.”
The cost of 10-foot-by-10-foot sale spaces will rise this year to $40, up from $35 previously. Additionally, vendors who arrive with a truck will be automatically charged for two spaces; and those with a truck and a trailer, three spaces.
Sale proceeds benefit the CEDC, a non-profit “that works to promote businesses in the Collegeville area, and organizes fun events for area families throughout the year,” its website stated.
In part as a response to the early vendor interest, CEDC has already established an online yard sale reservation form. Prospects are asked to provide their name, full address, phone, and e-mail information; identify how many spaces they want, and follow up by mailing a check for the amount due to the CEDC, 476 E. Main St.
