Traffic Restrictions Continue Next Week on U.S. Route 422

Extended Road Work Due in Berks on Routes 422, 100

April 21, 2024

ALLENTOWN PA – Maintenance workers for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, and others, will be busy in coming weeks on portions of U.S. Route 422 and state Route 100 in Berks County, its Allentown-based District 5 office said. One project will take until May 3; a second until June 28, it added.

On the work schedule are:

  • A weekday lane restriction through May 3 (Friday) daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on U.S. Route 422, between Monocacy Hill Road and Rega Lane, for “shoulder work (and) roadway widening related to highway occupancy permit work.” The work will be conducted by the party authorized under the permit, which was not identified; and
  • “Shoulder work in both directions” weekdays through June 28 (Friday) daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on state Route 100 in Washington Township, between Mill Street and Chestnut Street.

For both, drivers in the respective work zones are asked to use caution. Work schedules could depend on acceptable weather.
