ALLENTOWN PA – Maintenance workers from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will be busy with a variety of road work tasks Wednesday through Friday (April 17-19, 2024) in four eastern Berks County municipalities, the department announced.
The workers and their equipment will sweep roads and address highway needs in Douglass, Oley, and Washington townships, and Boyertown Borough. Drivers should anticipate the road work will create the potential for traffic disruptions, according to PennDOT’s District 5 office in Allentown.
On its schedule are:
- Wednesday to Thursday (April 18) in Douglass (Berks) Township, daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., road sweeping on state Route 662 between U.S. Route 422 and state Route 73. The work will require a shoulder restriction. Drivers are urged to use caution traveling in the work zone;
- Wednesday only in Oley Township, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., road sweeping on state Route 73 between Pricetown Road and state Route 662. The work will require a lane restriction with flagging. Drivers should expect delays within the zone, and travel with caution;
- Thursday only in Oley Township, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., road sweeping on state Route 73 between state Route 662 and Longview Road. Lane restrictions can be anticipated in both directions with flagging, potentially accompanied by delays. Drivers should travel with caution;
- Friday (April 19) only in Boyertown Borough, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., road sweeping on state Route 73 between Longview Road and Route 100. Again, lane restrictions can be anticipated in both directions with flagging, potentially accompanied by delays. Drivers should travel with caution; and
- Daily through Friday in Washington Township, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., unspecified maintenance work on state Route 100 from Mill Street to Chestnut Street. No traffic restrictions were announced, but PennDOT asked drivers to exercise caution in the area near its workers.
