Boyertown Again Ready for ‘Coming Out of Hibernation’

Boyertown Again Ready for ‘Coming Out of Hibernation’

April 5, 2024

BOYERTOWN PA – As winter gives way to spring, Boyertown is preparing its traditional seasonal welcome for residents of and visitors to the borough. Its free-to-attend “Coming Out of Hibernation” event, organized by Building A Better Boyertown, is scheduled for April 20 (2024; Saturday) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The party fills Philadelphia Avenue (at top), through the center of the downtown shopping district. Building a Better Boyertown anticipates it will be brimming with local business activity, vendors, family-oriented fun, tasty foods and beverages to consume, and the sleepily wandering mascot, Bearianne.

“From artisan crafters to loyal businesses, delicious food trucks to local restaurants, there’s no shortage of treasures waiting to be uncovered,” the non-profit Main Street promoter declared. The event supports local businesses and artisans, it added, by providing them “with a platform to showcase their talents” and passion for quality, creativity, and sustainability.

Entertainment and activities

Entertainment during the day includes performances by the Boyertown Alumni Band, as well as a variety of independent artists who will help to keep downtown streets resounding with music throughout the day. Kids will enjoy Fletcher, the miniature highlander cow, and some of his barn friends from Fluffy EnRoute Farm.

Hands-on activities, intended to spark the imagination of kids of all ages, will be hosted by local business owners. A vocal crowd also will be needed at 11:30 a.m., as the borough attempts to bring the groggy Bearianne out of her long winter’s nap.

Lists of participating vendors, entertainers, food trucks and food and beverage providers, and local businesses and non-profits offering kids activities and crafts are available online. Some activities, such as the petting zoo, may charge a fee.

Coming Out of Hibernation is supported by “Spring In Our Step” sponsors Diamond Credit Union, Pop’s Painting and Paperhanging, Wallace Services Inc., and Pheasantland RC Park & Hobby Shop; “Let The Sun Shine In” sponsor Gabelsville Athletic Association; and “Brightest Of The Bunch” sponsor The Longacre Company.

Building A Better Boyertown says it “seeks to preserve Boyertown’s artistic, historical, and agricultural heritage by providing the Boyertown community with physical improvements, unique opportunities, and social interactions for businesses, residents, and visitors alike.” Its offices are located at 3 E. Philadelphia Ave.
