Community Health Adds Sports Med Specialist, Pediatrician

POTTSTOWN PA – Dr. Joshua B. Williamson, a board-certified pediatrician who specializes in sports medicine, has been named to the staff of Community Health & Dental Care at its 351 W. Schuylkill Rd. health center. Appointments for pediatric patients ages newborn through 17 are being scheduled now by phone at 610-326-9460.

Williamson was recognized in 2020 and 2019 on the “Top Doctors: Pediatrics” lists compiled by Philadelphia Magazine. He joins Community Health & Dental from Albright College, where he has worked since 2012 as the college physician, and from Coventry Pediatrics, where he worked for 14 years.

He is a licensed Pennsylvania medical physician and surgeon, and a certified diplomat in sports medicine.

He’s an assistant soccer coach, too

The physician earned his doctor of medicine degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown WV, and his bachelor’s degree in biology from West Virginia University. Williamson completed both his fellowship in primary care sports medicine, and his pediatric residency, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune NJ.

In addition to being a frequent lecturer and presenter on sports medicine topics, Williamson serves on the PIAA Sports Medicine Advisory Committee, and is a member of the American Medical Association and American Academy of Pediatrics.

Williamson also serves as assistant varsity boys soccer coach at Oley High School, from which he graduated.

About CHDC

Operating since 2008, Community Health & Dental Care said it intends to “ensure access to appropriate levels of care for all people in (its) service area regardless of their ability to pay.” Same day and integrated appointments are available to meet the scheduling needs of patients and family members.

It provides medical, dental, OBGYN, vision, podiatry, physical therapy, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), integrated behavioral health, care and case management, and free transportation to and from all its locations in Pottstown and Barto. This spring, the center said, it also will open a new medical office in Boyertown.
