LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Controlled rock blasting to excavate areas for drainage construction is among activities scheduled next Monday through Thursday (March 25-28, 2024), as part of work on U.S. Route 422 improvements across Lower Pottsgrove Township.
Travel restrictions can be expected, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, in and surrounding the 1.7-mile corridor between the highway’s Sanatoga interchange and Porter Road. They include:
- A lane closure Monday through Thursday, daily from 9 a.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, on eastbound 422 between Keim Street and Evergreen Road, for shoulder reconstruction and clearing;
- A lane closure Monday through Thursday, daily from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m., on westbound 422 between Evergreen Road and Hanover Street, for shoulder reconstruction and clearing;
- A flagger-controlled lane closure Monday through Thursday, daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., on westbound Route 724 between Bridge Street and Route 23 in Chester County’s East Vincent and Pikeland townships, for aerial fiber installation; and
- Intermittent 15-minute traffic stoppages and traffic paces Wednesday and Thursday (March 27-28), from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily, on east- and westbound 422 between Evergreen Road and Armand Hammer Boulevard, for controlled blasting.
The stoppages and paces are required to protect drivers and workers, and safely perform the blasting, PennDOT said. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas, because it said backups and delays will occur.
All scheduled activities depend on acceptable weather.
