BETHLEHEM PA – Bethlehem-based D’Huy Engineering Inc., which formerly assisted in construction of high schools in the Pottsgrove and Boyertown Area school districts, has been bought by one of the nation’s top 100 engineering firms, a media release said Tuesday (March 12, 2024).
D’Huy was purchased by CHA Consulting Inc., headquartered in Albany NY. The cost of the acquisition was not disclosed.
D’Huy played significant roles in the $28.1 million renovation and expansion of Pottsgrove High School in 2015, and the $55 million construction and renovation of Boyertown Area High School in 2017.
CHA in 2023 was ranked by a trade journal, Engineering News-Record, as the 69th largest engineering firm in the U.S., with 55 offices and more than 1,800 employees. D’Huy, which has about 100 employees, maintains five offices in Bethlehem, Ambler, and Scranton PA, and Wilmington DE. The release said D’Huy would be immediately re-branded to reflect CHA’s ownership.
CHA also noted the D’Huy deal represented its “third acquisition in Pennsylvania within the last 12 months,” and the first under a partnership with H.I.G. Capital, a Miami FL investment firm.
