POTTSTOWN PA – Volunteers are being sought by the Schuylkill River Greenways National Heritage Area for its first maintenance event of the spring season, on March 30 (Saturday) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Pottstown’s Riverfront Park, 140 College Dr.
Planned tasks include improving interpretive signs, weeding the pollinator garden, pruning trees, and making general trail and park improvements. The intent, Greenways leaders said, is to “bolster the loop in Riverfront Park as much as we can” because of its importance to the area’s ecology, and the Schuylkill River Trail’s value to Pottstown.
Advance registration for the event is requested by March 29 (Friday) and is available online. The family-friendly activities will be held primarily outdoors. If inclement weather is expected to disrupt the schedule, e-mails will be sent out before the event begins to notify volunteers of any changes.
Food, including a variety of pizzas and water as a beverage, will be served at around noon.
Greenways will provide necessary tools for the work being performed; however, volunteers who require special equipment to participate must provide it themselves. The tasks are not wheelchair accessible. All event participants also must complete required waivers by March 29 (Friday). Those unable to access waiver forms online can complete them at the park on the day of the event.
