Saturday's the day for the annual metals and other items recycling effort at Althouse Arboretum in Upper Pottsgrove

Althouse Electronics Recycling Event Set for March 16

February 28, 2024

UPPER POTTSGROVE PA – A program organized by Green Allies and Althouse Arboretum for recycling of area residents’ unwanted consumer electronics and related items is scheduled for March 16 (2024; Saturday) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hillside Aquatic Center parking lot, 134 W. Moyer Rd.

A $10 donation per vehicle will be requested as vehicles enter the lot, to cover recycling of a variety of items and materials. However, additional fees may be required for specific items.

Being accepted with the entrance donation alone are computer towers, laptop computers, tablets and iPads, servers, printers, ink cartridges, phone systems, game consoles, cords and wires, stereos, radios, small appliances, cell phones, computer ink cartridges, and DVDs.

The donation also covers appliances and metal items like washers, dryers, air conditioners, dishwashers, dehumidifiers, ranges, stoves, refrigerators, freezers, microwaves, file cabinets, tolls, grills, and most metals.

Plastic appliances, such as hair dryers, vacuum cleaners, humidifiers, toys, and similar items are NOT being accepted.

Additional fees apply of between $10 and $75 generally apply to flat-screen televisions, flat-screen computer monitors, cathode ray tube monitors, and conventional televisions. Pricing will be determined on site, and may depend on item type and size.

Assist other non-profits at the same time

If you’ve got unused plastic shopping bags or other similar light plastic materials taking up space at home, bring them to the recycling event as well. They will be accepted on behalf of a regional non-profit organization that weaves the plastic into waterproof sleeping mats that are distributed to the homeless.

Got unused or unwanted bicycles at home as well? Bring them too. Althouse volunteers will turn them over to Second Wind, a Gilbertsville-based non-profit that refurbishes and distributes bicycles to families in need.

For more information on the recycling event, call 267-371-2288 or send an e-mail to ken@green-allies.org.
