POTTSTOWN PA – These early week items of entertainment and civic interest are scheduled for Monday through Thursday (Feb. 26-29, 2024), and have been publicly announced.

Monday, Feb. 26

  • Weekly Constituent Service, 9 a.m. to noon, free, for voters in the 24th PA Senatorial District by Sen. Tracy Pennycuick’s staff, or call 215-541-2388, in North Hall at the Pottstown campus of Montgomery County Community College, 16 E. High St., Pottstown PA
  • Gentle Yoga Class, 6:30-7:30 p.m., ticketed, suitable for ages 13 and older, for all abilities and experience levels, bring your own mat and water bottle, knee pads provided, in the Perkiomen Valley Library at Schwenksville, 290 2nd St., Schwenksville PA
  • Excel Basics, 6:30-7:30 p.m., free (no registration necessary), hosted by the Royersford Free Public Library, focuses on learning the basics of Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software, at the library, 200 S. 4th Ave., Royersford PA

Wednesday, Feb. 28

  • Weekly Constituent Service, 9 a.m. to noon, free, for residents of the 24th PA Senatorial District by Sen. Tracy Pennycuick’s staff, or call 215-541-2388, in North Hall at the Pottstown campus of Montgomery County Community College, 16 E. High St., Pottstown PA
  • “Celebration of “African Americans’ Contributions to the Arts,” 11:30-1 p.m., free to attend, a live presentation with music, literature, visual art, and food, presented by the Montgomery County Black History Month Committee in the first-floor community room at 1430 DeKalb St., Norristown PA
  • Auditions for “The Prom,” 6:30-9:30 p.m., free but by appointment only (https://forms.gle/Pr6TyDah1XAvDZjR7), seeking a cast ages 14 and older of all body types, genders, ethnicities and orientations, at Steel River Playhouse, 245 E. High St., Pottstown PA
  • Yoga at the Perk, 7-8 p.m., ticketed, all levels welcome, led by yogi Lisa Maida, hosted by the Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy; participants must bring water, a yoga mat, and a towel; depending on weather yoga may be held indoors or outdoors, held at the conservancy, 1 Skippack Pike, Schwenksville PA

Thursday, Feb. 29

  • Weekly ‘Scrabble’ Game, starts at 10 a.m., free, Boyertown Community Library, 24 N. Reading Ave., Boyertown PA
  • Economic Update Luncheon, noon to 1:30 p.m., ticketed, hosted by the by Upper Perkiomen Valley Chamber of Commerce, led by a panel of financial experts from Harleysville Bank, Tri County Area Federal Credit Union, and Univest Wealth Division; four menu choices, at the Carriage House Restaurant, 745 Gravel Pike, East Greenville PA
  • Book Discussion: “Black History in the Philadelphia Landscape,” 6:30-8 p.m., free, with discussion of the book by author Amy Cohen, accompanied by social time and book signings, at the Historical Society of Montgomery County, 1654 DeKalb St., Norristown PA

The PCTV Network. PCTV, headquartered in Pottstown, provides local television programming in western Montgomery, northern Chester, and eastern Berks counties.

Digital Notebook. Pottstown resident Evan Brandt is the sole reporter for the venerable Pottstown Mercury newspaper. For many years, until February 2022, he offered observations about happenings in the borough and elsewhere. They remain valuable from a historical perspective.

Berks Community Television. Covers Berks County.

Spotlight PA. An investigative news service for Pennsylvania, supported by several news organizations statewide. It is starting a Berks County Edition.
