UPPER POTTSGROVE PA – Pottsgrove Middle School bustled with activity Friday (Feb. 23, 2024), just before noon, as specially selected students from 14 school districts began arriving (at top) to prepare for the 2024 String Fest concert there.
The concert event is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Music Educators’ Association (PMEA) District 11, involving schools from across Montgomery and Bucks counties. This is the second time in six years that Pottsgrove has hosted the program that features classes with instructors and rehearsals.
Not surprisingly, orchestra members from nearby Pottsgrove High School were the first to disembark (above) from buses bringing the group of about 200 honored performers to the school auditorium. Their concert will begin Friday at 7 p.m. It is open to the public and free to attend.
Pottsgrove orchestra directors Kristen Hyde (not pictured) and William Einhorn (above) were busy at about 11 a.m., meeting with and issuing last-minute instructions to volunteers ready to greet other arriving concert participants. Bags with materials were assembled for the leaders of visiting schools, ready to be picked up (below).
