Starbucks Coffee, Bank of America to Offer Extra Benefits

Starbucks Coffee, Bank of America to Offer Extra Benefits

February 16, 2024

SEATTLE WA – Starbucks Coffee and Bank of America are partners in a plan to offer both companies’ customers more benefits – in cash-back savings and increased rewards points – if they link their bank accounts to in-app purchases. Bank of America announced the promotion on its website Thursday (Feb. 15, 2024).

The program will be available to currently enrolled or new Starbucks Rewards members, and Bank of America cardholders. Locally, Starbucks operates at locations in West Pottsgrove, Royersford, Gilbertsville, Collegeville, Phoenixville, and Oaks; and is building one in North Coventry. Bank of America operates local branches in Upper Providence, Phoenixville, and King of Prussia.

Starbucks reportedly has more than 34 million rewards members.

Bank of America debit or credit card holders must enroll and activate the offer with the bank, then link an eligible card as a prospective payment source in the Starbucks app. They will earn 2% cash back using the card and also earn 1 Bonus Star for every $2 (excluding taxes and tips) in purchases, “getting you closer to free food and drinks,” according to the bank webpage.

Bonus stars are added to Starbucks account within about 24 hours after completing a qualified purchase. They expire six (6) months after the calendar month in which stars were earned, the bank added.

Purchases at Starbucks that qualify for the extra benefits include “registered Starbucks Card reloads, purchases of food, beverages, packaged coffee, and merchandise at participating Starbucks stores,” the bank said. Excluded are purchases of alcoholic beverages, Starbucks Card eGifts, and physical Starbucks gift cards.
