Traffic Restrictions Continue Next Week on U.S. Route 422

Night-Time Bridge Construction Due on 422 Near KOP

January 6, 2024

KING OF PRUSSIA PA – Overhead bridge work is scheduled at night next week on both U.S. Route 422 and North Gulph Road near King of Prussia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation reported. The effort is part of a Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission project to widen and improve the turnpike and its bridges between mileposts 324-326.

PennDOT alerted drivers of two traffic conditions scheduled to occur during the five-day period:

  • A single lane closure will be in place Monday through Friday (Jan. 8-12, 2024), from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, in both directions on 422 between 1st Avenue and U.S. 202; and
  • A single lane closure will be in place Monday through Friday (Jan. 8-12), from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, in both directions on North Gulph Road between 1st Avenue and U.S. 202.

The closures allow the commission’s contractor to install protective shielding beneath the new bridge that carries the turnpike over 422 and North Gulph. It assists in construction of the center portion of the bridge.

Drivers should use caution and be prepared for slow or stopped traffic approaching the area, PennDOT said. The work schedule is depends on acceptable weather.

The commission will complete its project under a PennDOT highway occupancy permit.
