POTTSTOWN PA – Borough residents can get a 7-month head start on their Fourth of July celebration with some some shopping Monday (Jan. 1, 2024) at Pottstown’s Riverfront Park on College Drive.
Representatives of the Pottstown GoFourth! Festival on its Facebook page said they will staff a “pop-up” booth with branded merchandise during the New Year’s Day Polar Bear Swim event at the park. GoFourth annually helps stage and promote the borough’s Independence Day festivities and fireworks. Proceeds from the merchandise sale will be used to help pay for the July 4th entertainment.
Registration for polar swimmers starts at about 9:30 a.m. It will be followed by a group plunge into the chilly Schuylkill River at 10:30 a.m., and end with a warm-up bonfire. The Pottstown Parks and Recreation Department sponsors the first-of-the-year dip at the park’s riverbank.
Among items being offered for sale are a stuffed bear named PoBe, dressed in a GoFourth T-shirt; a “Pottstown’s Got Heart beanie; a Pottstown’s Got Heart hoodie; and the 2024 Historic Pottstown Calendar. It features photos by Carol Brightbill of borough residences that were presented in a house tour this year.
