ALLENTOWN PA – Television station WFMZ, and its MeTV affiliate WDPN, will offer several ways for viewers to watch this year’s edition of the historic Philadelphia Mummers New Year’s Day parade. It’s scheduled for Monday (Jan. 1, 2024) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The parade will be aired on on cable channel 2 for WDPN MeTV; simulcast on WFMZ’s television Channel 69; on its website, WFMZ.com; and in the WFMZ app for Amazon FireStick, Roku, Apple TV, Apple, and Android operating systems.
The parade is supported by returning title sponsor Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, and has been named “the best holiday parade in the country” for 2023 in the USA Today newspaper’s 10-Best Reader’s Choice Awards.
The Mummers (at top and above) will march for their 124th anniversary year, said by the casino to be “one of the longest-running traditions in the nation.” It features performances by participants from the Mummers’ Fancy (one club), Wench (nine brigades), Comic (three clubs) and String Band (14 bands) divisions.
WDPN-TV and WFMZ-TV are owned by Maranatha Broadcasting Company Inc. WDPN is affiliated with The Memorable Entertainment Network (MeTV) for the Wilmington DE and Philadelphia market. WFMZ is a full-service broadcast station, founded in 1976, with news coverage that focuses on the northern tier of the Philadelphia market, including Berks and western Montgomery counties.
