LIMERICK PA – An evening of festive carols will mark the annual return of the Coventry Community Chorus Christmas concert. It’s scheduled for Friday (Dec. 22, 2023) at 7:30 p.m. in St. James United Church of Christ, 321 S. Limerick Rd.
The music it will present spans decades from the 16th century to the present day, the chorus said in a media release. Some may be familiar, some less so, but the group promises all will be enjoyable. The concert is suitable for all ages, is open to the public, and free to attend. Parking is available at the church.
Holiday camaraderie, appetizers, and sweets will follow the concert. Goodwill donations will be gratefully accepted to help cover the related costs of music and facilities where the chorus performs and practices.
Coventry Community Chorus is a group of singers of varying experience levels who simply enjoy singing. It practices once a week on Wednesdays, and new singers are always welcome. Those interest in joining are encouraged to send an e-mail to Kathy Mullen at kat19460@gmail.com.
The chorus was founded by George Myers, now director emeritus, and has performed in and for the community for more than 16 years. The group is currently led by conductor and pianist Jim Tay, who has played the piano throughout the area and has extensive conducting experience.
