POTTSTOWN PA – A finely tuned group of local singers is inviting the public to travel across the country without climbing into a plane, train, or automobile.
A Nov. 4 (2023; Saturday) performance of the Pottstown Chapter of Sweet Adelines International, better known as the Ringing Hills Chorus, will feature music that lets you traverse the nation in song. Its 2 p.m. show, aptly titled “Rollin’ Along with the Ringing Hills Chorus,” is scheduled at Grace Lutheran Church, 660 N. Charlotte St.
Its selection of pieces are chosen from areas across the nation, and each relates to specific sections of the country. Think of it as a travelogue in sound. The show is accompanied by a basket raffle, and light refreshments will be available. The church is handicapped accessible. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
What makes the chorus special? Members say its their acappella barbershop style; concert-goers will hear only their trained and practiced voices, unaccompanied by musical instruments.
Julie MacGregor, a chorus member of more than 20 years, directs the group. Earlier this year, the chorus was among those accepted to participate in the organization’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Contest.
Women who like to sing and are interested in knowing more about the group are invited to attend a rehearsal session for more information. The chorus rehearses Tuesdays from 6:45-9 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church.
