Greenways Show, Sale Calls for Artists to Submit Works

October 25, 2023

POTTSTOWN PA – Artists are being invited by the Schuylkill River Greenways National Heritage Area to submit original pieces for its 19th annual “Scenes of the Schuylkill Juried Art Show and Sale.” The exhibit and sale is scheduled for Nov. 13 (2023; Monday) through Dec. 10 (Sunday) on the Pottstown campus of Montgomery County Community College.

The artist or photographer designated “Best In Show” winner will receive a $500 prize. Pieces ranked in second and third places, as honorable mentions, or selected as the staff choice will also receive cash prizes. The best-in-show sculpture will receive a $250 prize. Artists may offer their work for sale during the show.

A submission prospectus and application are available online at the Greenways website. Artists chosen for the show should plan to deliver works for submission Nov. 6 or 7 (Monday or Tuesday) from noon to 5 p.m. either day to the campus’ North Hall on High Street.

Patrick Winston will serve as guest juror. Winston currently teaches painting and drawing at the college, has been a staple in its art department for decades, and is known as the driving force behind establishing the gallery at North Hall. He has displayed his own works of art in a variety of museums and galleries around the globe.

Participating artists will also receive complimentary admission for themselves and a guest to the show’s art reception and awards ceremony, scheduled for Nov. 16 (Thursday) in the North Hall gallery. The event also serves as a fund-raiser to benefit Greenways, a non-profit organization that intends to connect residents, visitors and communities to the Schuylkill River and the Schuylkill River Trail.
