POTTSTOWN PA – The borough’s previously canceled Halloween parade, resurrected with new sponsorship and the support of Borough Council and the Pottstown Parks and Recreation Department, will march Sunday (Oct. 22, 2023) along High Street starting at 4 p.m. The route runs from North Adams to York streets.
The Hobart’s Run neighborhood group is serving as the Halloween parade’s official organizer. Sponsorship donations have been offered by it, as well as the Pottstown Area Health and Wellness Foundation, The Hill School, state Sen. Tracy Pennycuick, state Rep. Joe Ciresi, and Tower Health, the department said. Department employees are assisting the organizers.
The parade is expected to feature a variety of community organizations and businesses. In fact, that’s exactly what Hobart’s Run and the department hoped for. They publicly called upon local organizations, businesses, clubs, and congregations to participate as costumed groups, performers, and float organizers.
“Pottstown is looking forward to seeing your community spirit, so get out there and get involved,” promoters cheered. Registered participants will begin reporting for positions at 3 p.m., on the corner of High and Baily streets.
Parade watchers who also are football fans need not be worried. Everyone “will be home in plenty of time to see the Eagles kick-off,” the parks and recreation department promised.
The Pottstown Rotary Club has long been the parade sponsor, but its costs have spiked as outside contributions declined. The non-profit, community-oriented club projected a significant deficit to hold the event this year, and notified the borough it would be unable to continue.
