HARRISBURG PA – Royersford Borough and West Pottsgrove Township have separately won state grants for improvements in their parks, 146th District state Rep. Joe Ciresi said Thursday (Oct. 5, 2023). The combined awards total nearly $385,000, his office added.
Royersford will receive $184,800 to rehabilitate Victory Park. The funds will help renovate its outdoor stage, build a pedestrian walkway, install play equipment with required safety surfacing and fencing, install Americans With Disability access, add landscaping, install signs, and make other related site improvements.
West Pottsgrove is due to get $200,000 to rehabilitate its Old Timer’s Field Park. The funds will help renovate its baseball field and parking area, install stormwater management solutions, add fencing and lighting, improve Americans With Disability access, and add landscaping, signs, and make other related site improvements.
The awards are expected to “enhance the experience” for all of park visitors at Royersford’s Victory Park and West Pottsgrove Township’s Old Timer’s Park, Ciresi said. They also will ensure “they can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of ability,” he noted.
Both grants came from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Continued state support for local parks “will have visible impacts in our communities,” according to Ciresi.
