POTTSTOWN PA – Ten grilled cheese sandwich competitors. More than a dozen vendors, featuring everything from craft beers and tasty ice cream, to hand-made goods and charitable causes. Fun activities for adults and kids. All are lined up so far (subject to change) for the 2023 edition of Cheesetoberfest in Pottstown.
And here’s the delightfully cheesy part: it’s possible more will join.
The event, a competition to crown the year’s best creator of a grilled cheese treat, benefits the TriCounty Active Adult Center at 288 Moser Rd. Ste 1. It’s scheduled to be held Oct. 21 (Saturday) from noon to 3 p.m. NOTE: The event has moved due to inclement weather from Riverfront Park to the center, 288 Moser Rd., Pottstown PA
Tickets available online now
Tickets are available for online purchase, but only until Oct. 19 (Thursday). Ticket sales are limited because this is a competitive event in which patrons vote for their favorites. Remaining tickets may (or may not) be offered at the gate. They cost $25 for adults, and $10 for children age 12 and younger (but kids need tickets only if they plan to sample the sandwiches).
Each ticket allows the bearer “to taste one grilled cheese sample from each of the competitors, stroll the grounds, shop the vendors, visit the beer tent, relax, and enjoy live music performed by the Neo Trio. Each ticket includes either a free beer or a free ice cream, too. Be aware: the event will be held “rain or shine. Sorry, no refunds,” organizers said.
Competitor grills will be occupied by Cafe 288 at the TRAAC, Our Path, Grumpy’s Handcarved Sandwiches, 3rd & Spruce Drafthaus, Bause Catering, Schaeffer’s Catering, Cafe 288 (Team 2), Willow Creek Brewing, Phoenixville Senior Center, and Hannah & Susie’s Cheesy Nut Hut.
Vendors to date are KinFork Cheese, Willow Creek Brewing (beer), A&H Candle, Kolb’s Farm Store (ice cream), Kathy’s Kitchen Candles, L’Bri Pure & Natural, Cornerstone Law, Sneaky Burrito, Betty’s Originals Gift Baskets, Bully Crochet, Rusty Doodle Creations, Penn State THON, Renewal by Andersen, and enVee Handmade Jewelry.
There’s plenty to do between mouthfuls. In addition to the band, adults can participate in beer and wine raffles. Kids can be involved in pumpkin painting, face painting, and an art project with Art Fusion 19464.
There’s still time to register for those who’d like to be among the competitors. Time also remains for businesses and organizations interested in Cheesetoberfest sponsorships. Sponsors to date include Citadel Credit Union, Visiting Angels, Manatawny Manor, O’Donnell, Weiss & Mattei, P.C., TriCounty Health Plans, TriCounty Area Federal Credit Union, and Styer Real Estate.
