MCCC Hosts Sept. 29 Online Tech and Learning Conference

MCCC Hosts Sept. 29 Online Tech and Learning Conference

September 14, 2023

BLUE BELL PA – “Creating a culture of learning innovation” will be the focus of a technology and learning conference to be held online Sept. 29 (2023; Friday), hosted by Montgomery County Community College (MCCC). Its scheduled keynote speaker is Dr. Jeff Borden, dean of the School of Leadership Studies at Gonzaga University.

The 29th annual event “will be entirely virtual and feature a variety of topics facing educational institutions today,” according to a media release from the college. The day-long conference, running from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., is free to attend and open to the public, it added. Advance registration is requested, and available online.

Those who attend can expect to learn about emerging technologies, and hear from and collaborate with educators, administrators, vendors, and leaders who are exploring how we live, work, teach, and play.

Speakers represent several universities and colleges

The college anticipates it will “welcome visitors from around the globe,” MCCC Executive Director of Information Technology Joe Mancini said.

Keynote speaker Borden most recently served as the vice provost of the Learning Experience at National University. For two decades he has acted as a ‘trend spotter’ for education, with an aim to transform teaching and learning at scale.

Speakers from institutions representing Penn State University, Seminole State College of Florida, Harrisburg Area Community College, West Chester University, and others also are scheduled. The conference’s gold-level sponsors – Pathify, InSpace, and InScribe – will additionally present information about new technologies.

More than 20 sessions are planned on wide-ranging topics. They include:

  • “Student-Created Podcasts as a Mode of Assessment,”
  • “AI in Education: Enhancing Efficiency and Reducing Workload for Educators,” and
  • “Re-imagining Assessment: Evaluating Learning in Novice College Writers Post-AI Language Model Ubiquity.”
