Valley Library Offers Children’s Eye Exams Wednesday

Children’s Eye Exams Offered Wednesday at Valley Library

August 20, 2023

SCHWENKSVILLE PA – Free eye exams for children between the ages of 3 and 5 years, who are accompanied by an adult, will be offered Wednesday (Aug. 23, 2023) following a 10 a.m. presentation at the Perkiomen Valley Library at Schwenksville.

Exams will be conducted by Carolyn Trump of the Montgomery County Association for the Blind, after she make a “brief interactive presentation” about eyes, according to the library. The exam takes little time, and relies on what is described as a “spot camera;” no eye chart is involved. The library is located at 290 Second St.

Advance registration is requested, and parents or guardians will be required to complete and sign a permission form. Information from the exam will be shared with each child’s parent or guardian. It can be taken to their family’s doctor for any follow-up.

A children’s program featuring “block and play manipulatives” will be available after the examinations. Siblings also are welcome to attend.

For more information and to register, call the library at 610-287-8360 or send an e-mail to PerkValLib@gmail.com.
