POTTSTOWN PA – Repairs are under way on the upper steps into Pottstown’s Riverfront Park, at the intersection of South Hanover Street and College Drive. The stairway is expected to be closed for about a week, the borough Parks and Recreation Department said.
The steps lead from the Hanover Street bridge down to the park at its east end, near the Schuylkill River from which the forested open space and the accompanying Schuylkill River Trail derive their names. Crews were scheduled to begin work Monday (July 24, 2023).
The department, as well as Pottstown police, advised walkers and runners to “plan … routes accordingly and stay off the steps.”
