Orchestra Calls Musicians to Sept. 6 Rehearsals in Trappe

Saturday Kids’ Show Opens Kimberton Concert Series

June 27, 2023

KIMBERTON PA – A series of eight concert performances, scheduled from Saturday (July 1, 2023) through Nov. 11, are being offered on the summer and fall arts calendar of the Kimberton Arts Alliance. The first show, geared toward young children, is free to attend with advance registration.

The Children’s Interactive Music Theater, set for Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Kimberton Park Amphitheater, 2214 Kimberton Rd., is presented by The Big Idea Committee. Musicians and singers Christine Petrini and Melissa Brun rely on their “friend,” Karl the Cello, to blend “musical theatre vocals and live cello instrumentals.”

They intend to create “an interactive and theatrical experience for kids ages 3-8.” The pair (OK, trio) invites audience members to join the cast as committee members. Their collective task: to make “plans for fun all year … exploring, playing, learning, and (including) a few surprises.”

On the alliance calendar

Their show, and seven others that separately feature classical and bluegrass music, are planned by the non-profit Kimberton Arts Alliance. Its website reports the organization has “led the effort to bring world-class performing arts to Kimberton” since 2010, in part assuming a role started earlier by the Kimberton Village Business Association.

The alliance works with other non-profits, local and regional businesses, and sponsors to present the concert series, as well as a jazz series, holiday events, and the Kimberton Community Block Party.

Now on the alliance schedule are:
