LOWER FREDERICK PA – Having enjoyed a successful opening Thursday (June 22, 2023) to its summer concert series (at top and above), the Parks and Recreation Board in Lower Frederick Township is already preparing for another seven events to keep residents smiling and happily occupied through October.

No rain worried concert-goers Thursday
Although the skies Thursday above Cuddy Park looked “iffy” early on, board member Greg Reich acknowledged, “the weather gods were with us,” he declared with relief. As the 7 p.m. concert time with “Barefoot Bobby and the Breakers” approached, “the probability of precipitation for the evening kept going down and, remarkably, the temperature actually went up a few degrees,” he added.
Turnout was admittedly lighter than usual for Lower Frederick concerts, the board noted. Up to 150 people attended, but the crowd was said to reflect a great mix of age groups (above and below), and several families with young children. All seemed ready for a party, observers added.
Barefoot Bobby and the band arrived in their colorful and highly noticeable Volkswagen microbus (below). It attracted plenty of audience inspection during the concert.
The Downtown Scoop food trailer (above), selling small-batch premium ice cream, may have been as big a hit as the band, according to those watching its line of buyers. Also on hand, just in case of need, were three emergency medical service units and three Lower Frederick Police Department officers and their patrol cars.
