Forecasters Say Rain, Storms Persist This Weekend

MOUNT HOLLY NJ – Avoiding rain and thunderstorms this weekend in the greater Pottstown area may possible for those indoors. It sure could be difficult anywhere else.

There’s an 80-percent chance of rain through Saturday (June 24, 2023), according to the National Weather Service office at Mount Holly NJ. The chance throughout Saturday night? That’s 80 percent too. The likelihood of precipitation during sunlight house Sunday lessens only slightly, to 70 percent, and on Sunday night, to 60 percent.

But the greatest threat to those who venture out in such weather is the possibility of thunderstorms and accompanying lightning strikes. The weather service two-day forecast is brimming with those as well.

Here are the weather service predictions for the next 48 hours:

On Saturday

“A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 p.m. High near 81 degrees. Light south wind increasing to 5-to-10 miles per hour in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts are possible between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.”

On Saturday Night

“Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 8 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Low temperature around 64 degrees. Southwest wind around 5 mph, becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts are possible of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.”

On Sunday

“A chance of showers and thunderstorms between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Partly sunny skies are anticipated, with a high temperature near 86. Light west wind becomes one from the southwest at 5-to-10 mph in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts are possible of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.”

On Sunday Night

“Showers are likely, possibly with a thunderstorm before 8 p.m., followed by a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 8 p.m. Expect mostly cloudy skies, with a low temperature around 66. A south wind around 5 mph will become calmer in the evening. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts are possible of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.”
